"Spirit Stone" 210 x 90 x 60cm Black Granite,Brass

The art work is inspired by the old Chinese spirit stones, which I try to represent by a life size flat column of stone. It borrows from the Celtic tradition as well, where the stone monoliths came to signal those special places where the telluric forces of the earth were felt more strongly.

I chose a tall piece of Imperial Black granite, which is fluted on the top part to represent the release of energy from the earth and as a metaphor for our human struggle towards a spiritual fullfilment.
